Fire in the 200 Block of  West Kathleen Drive

August 8, 2022

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

On Sunday August 7, 2022 at 12:32 PM, the Park Ridge Fire Department (PRFD) was dispatched to the 200 block of West Kathleen Drive for a reported house fire. PRFD personnel arrived in just over three minutes and found smoke coming from the first floor of the home and immediately upgraded the alarm to a confirmed fire response which brought additional fire companies to the scene. The first arriving crews initiated an interior fire attack and found the fire in the basement in a room off the garage.  An initial rapid search found that there were no victims in the house and all crews then focused on extinguishing the fire and ventilating the smoke from the structure.

One of the residents of the home was transported to the hospital with smoke inhalation and one firefighter was transported to the hospital for a minor injury but both of these individuals are expected to make a full recovery. Park Ridge was assisted on scene by fire companies from the Des Plaines, Glenview, Morton Grove, Niles and North Maine Fire Departments. Additionally, the Park Ridge fire stations were staffed by mutual aid crews from the Des Plaines, Schiller Park, and Wheeling Fire Departments and the Rosemont Public Safety Department.

Damage to the home is estimated to be $50,000. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
