Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Comprehensive Plan?
A Comprehensive Plan is a long range planning document that looks 20-25 years into the future. It will include an overarching vision for the City and recommendations relating to different topics, including economic development, sustainability, land use, transportation, housing and overall community character.

The plan will serve as a decision-making guide for City leaders, informed by ideas that YOU share: what you love about your community, what you want to see improved in the future, and strategies that will build upon Park Ridge’s existing reputation as a wonderful place.
Why is it important and why now?
Though the City has conducted other planning efforts for different focus areas across Park Ridge, the last Comprehensive Plan was completed in 1996. Many things have changed over the last 20+ years, and the comprehensive planning process allows us to check back in with the community. It will identify today’s challenges and opportunities and how to address those moving forward.
