Forestry

The Forestry Division manages and maintains over 21,000 parkway and city-owned trees. The City contracts with private tree care companies to provide various forestry services such as tree and stump removal, cyclical pruning of over 3,000 trees annually, pest and disease management, and storm damage repair.

Forestry staff responds to citizens’ requests involving various insect and disease problems affecting public trees. To request an inspection of a parkway tree, please submit a request using the online Citizen Request Form.

The Forestry Division strives to maintain and grow a healthy and sustainable urban forest according to its Urban Forest Management Plan. This plan highlights the benefits of the City's urban forest, analyzes and summarizes inventory data, and outlines a five-year maintenance plan for public trees. You can access the City's parkway tree inventory here

Please note: If you would like to remove a tree on your property, all private property trees over 10" in diameter (measured 4.5' from the ground) are Protected Trees and require a tree removal permit.

Tree removal permits can now be submitted using the CSS Citizens Self-Service Online Portal. Once the completed Tree Removal Permit Application Form is uploaded to the portal and submitted, you will be able to review the status of the permit application in real-time.
